Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Single-Jointed Bit from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Single-Jointed Bit is made of Sweet Iron and features so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This rust tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses readily accept Sweet Iron bits as a result.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
single-jointed
The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Curbgag
The combi-bit, or Curbgag as it is called, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap that can be taken up and released as needed. This bit is very suitable for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
