The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag bit, single-jointed, locked, from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag bit, single-jointed, locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
About the manufacturer
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked mouthpiece is similar to a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Cheek piece
Curbgag
The combination bit, or Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb chain, which can be taken up and released as needed. This bit is very suitable for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
