The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Single Jointed Locked Bit 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail today:

The Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Single Jointed Locked Bit 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a size of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally suitable for very large warmbloods.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed further by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Locked

The Locked (blocking) mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit reverts to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.

Cheeks

Curbgag

The combi-bit, also known as a Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap, which can be taken up and released as needed. It is very suitable for horses that tend to push forward.
