Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit, Single-Jointed, Locked, 16mm, 11.5cm
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit, Single-Jointed, Locked, 16mm, 11.5cm from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit, Single-Jointed, Locked, 16mm, 11.5cm is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a size of 11.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Cheek Piece
Curbgag
The combination bit, or curb gag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a chin strap, which can be taken up and released as needed. This bit is very suitable for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
