The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curb Gag Snaffle single jointed 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curb Gag Snaffle single jointed 16mm 14.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curb Gag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally suitable for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point, making it a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses readily accept Sweet Iron bits as a result.
Manufacturer information

Mouthpiece
single jointed
The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common mouthpiece alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek piece
Curb Gag
The combination bit, or Curb Gag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap, which can be taken up and released as needed. It is very well suited for horses that tend to lean forward.
