The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides gentle yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Bit Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 13.5 centimeters. The 13.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Single Jointed
The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece mainly exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Curbgag
The combination bit, or Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap, which can be engaged and released as needed. This bit is very suitable for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
