The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Beval Roller Bit 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Beval Roller Bit 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The mouthpiece has a width of 14.5 centimeters. The 14.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and especially large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses readily accept Sweet Iron bits as a result.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Single-jointed
The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Universal/Swivel
The universal bit, also called Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheekpieces with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheekpieces and reins, making the bit very flexible. On the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached to a central axis of the ring.
