The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron Beval Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Beval Single Jointed 16mm 13.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
single jointed
A single jointed bit has one hinge point, which means less pressure is exerted on the tongue than with a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek Piece
Universal/Swivel
The universal bit, also known as a beval or swivel, usually has rings as cheek pieces, with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheek pieces and reins, making the bit very flexible. With the beval, the mouthpiece is attached in a central axis of the ring.
