The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Beval double-jointed bit with copper rings, 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The Trust Sweet Iron Beval double-jointed bit with copper rings, 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 14.5 centimetres. The 14.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimetres at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.

Manufacturer information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

A double-jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth, and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits.

Cheek piece

Universal/Swivel

The Universal bit, also known as Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheek pieces with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional buckling of cheek pieces and reins, making the bit very flexible. With the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached in a central axis of the ring.
