The Trust Sweet Iron Beval Bit, Double Jointed with High Port is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information

Mouthpiece
Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek piece
Universal/Swivel
The universal bit, also known as Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheek pieces with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheek pieces and reins, making the bit very flexible. With the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached to a central axis of the ring.
