The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Baby Pelham Dr. Bristol Copper Plate is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Baby Pelham sidepieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Dr. Bristol, which means a plate as the center piece of a double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
