The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Baby Pelham bit, double jointed with a high port, 16mm 11.5, from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Baby Pelham bit, double jointed with a high port, 16mm 11.5, is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Baby Pelham cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well-suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production, making horses readily accept the Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Straight bar bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Baby Pelham
The Baby Pelham is a variation of the Pelham, ideal for accustoming horses to poll pressure, as it has shorter shanks. This significantly reduces the leverage of the Trust Sweet Iron Baby Pelham bit, double jointed with high port, 16mm 11.5, making it more comfortable for the horse.
