The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit with Rollers 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Elevator Bit rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed. The bit has a width of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Single-jointed
A single-jointed bit has one hinge point, which applies less pressure to the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single-jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common.
Cheekpiece
Elevator bit
The elevator bit can be ridden with two reins. The second rein, when increased pressure is applied, causes the bit to tilt and lift in the corner of the mouth. This means a reinforced action. Very good for horses that tend to lean on the bit. Also usable for horses to achieve more uplift.
