The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Gag Snaffle Olive Head High Port is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with gag snaffle olive head rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a ported bar.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Ported bar bits
A ported bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A ported bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Side piece
Gag snaffle with olive head rings
This bit combines the advantages of an olive head bit and a gag snaffle. The olive head ring provides more lateral stability in the horse's mouth. The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Gag Snaffle Olive Head High Port can be ridden with one or two reins, like any gag snaffle.
