Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Gag Snaffle Olive Head Single Jointed from the Trust Equestrian range:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron Gag Snaffle Olive Head Single Jointed is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Gag Olive Head rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Single Jointed
A single jointed bit has one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Sidepiece
Gag Snaffle with Olive Head Rings
The bit is a combination of a gag snaffle and an olive head bit, brought together to utilize the advantages of both bit types. The olive head ring provides more lateral stability in the horse's mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Gag Snaffle Olive Head Single Jointed can be ridden with one or two reins, like any gag snaffle.
