Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Draw Gag Olive Head Single Jointed Locking 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Draw Gag Olive Head Single Jointed Locking 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with draw gag olive head rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters. The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed to create surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Locked

The locked mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.

Cheek Piece

Draw Gag with Olive Head Rings

This bit combines the advantages of an olive head bit and a draw gag. The olive head ring provides more lateral stability in the horse's mouth. The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Draw Gag Olive Head Single Jointed Locking 16mm 12.5 can be ridden with one or two reins, like any draw gag.
