Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle with Eggbutt Rings, Single Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle with Eggbutt Rings, Single Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with full cheek eggbutt rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally suitable for a normal warmblood.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is typically between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Single jointed

The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is the most popular mouthpiece on the market.

Cheek Piece

Full cheek snaffle with eggbutt rings

The bit is a combination of a full cheek snaffle and an eggbutt bit, brought together to utilize the advantages of both types of bits. The eggbutt ring provides more lateral stability in the horse's mouth. The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Full Cheek Snaffle with Eggbutt Rings, Single Jointed, 16mm, 13.5cm can be ridden with one or two reins, like any full cheek snaffle.
