The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit with Eggbutt and Double-Jointed Mouthpiece with Copper Rings 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Elevator Eggbutt rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double-jointed. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is usually well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at the thickest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust develops on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

A double-jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped to the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars with a narrow lower jaw. Compared to a single-jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Cheekpiece

Elevator bit with eggbutt rings

The bit is a combination of an elevator bit and an eggbutt bit, brought together to utilize the advantages of both bit types. The eggbutt ring provides more lateral stability in the horse's mouth. The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit with Eggbutt and Double-Jointed Mouthpiece with Copper Rings 16mm 12.5 can be ridden with one or two reins, like any elevator bit.
