The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Snaffle French Link Copper Plate 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Elevator Snaffle rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a French Link, which is an eight-shaped plate as the center piece of a double-jointed mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.

Mouthpiece

French Link

The French Link mouthpiece has two hinge points and an eight-shaped plate in the middle, which exerts even pressure on the tongue. This mouthpiece has two hinge points, is shaped more towards the mouth and sits somewhat looser in the horse's mouth.

Cheek Piece

Elevator Snaffle

The elevator snaffle can be ridden with two reins. The second rein, when increased pressure is applied, causes the bit to tilt and pull up into the corners of the mouth. This means an intensified action. Very good for horses that tend to lean on the bit. The bit also supports the natural collection of the horse.
