The Trust Equestrian Team is continuously working on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit Single Jointed 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit Single Jointed 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Elevator Bit rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being further developed and strictly quality controlled by Trust's technical teams.
Mouthpiece
Single jointed
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit Single Jointed 16mm 14.5 has a joint in the middle, which exerts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece mainly exerts pressure on the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double jointed mouthpiece.
Side piece
Elevator bits
The elevator bit can be ridden with two reins. Increased pressure on the second rein causes the bit to tilt and lift in the corner of the mouth. This means increased action. Very good for horses that tend to lean on the bit. The bit also supports the natural self-carriage of the horse.
