The Trust Bit Sweet Iron Elevator Bit Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with Elevator Bit Rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer information

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Double jointed
The double jointed mouthpiece is one of the most common mouthpieces on the market. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.
Cheek piece
Elevator bits
The elevator bit can be ridden with two reins. The second rein, when increased pressure is applied, causes the bit to tilt and pull up into the commissure of the mouth. This means an increased effect. Very good for horses that tend to lean on the bit. The bit also supports the horse's natural self-carriage.
