The Trust Sweet Iron Draw Gag Single Jointed Blocked bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with draw gag cheeks as side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-strength mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed so that surface rust develops when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece is similar to a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Side piece
Draw gag
The draw gag combines the effect of a gag bit and a full cheek bit. The full cheek bit laterally limits the horse and gives it stability, and also prevents the bit rings from slipping through. The gag bit is connected to the bridle via gag cheek pieces that are pulled through the bit rings. This achieves a leveraged action depending on the degree of rein uptake.
