The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Elevator Bit, double jointed with high port, 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Sweet Iron Elevator Bit, double jointed with high port, 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and features elevator shanks as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. The 14.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been designed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and rigorously quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Elevator Bit
The elevator bit is a combination of an elevator and a full cheek bit. The full cheek bit laterally restricts the horse and provides stability, also preventing the bit rings from slipping through. The elevator bit is connected to the bridle via elevator cheekpieces that are threaded through the bit rings. This creates a leverage effect depending on the degree of rein engagement.
