Product description

Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single-Jointed Locked

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.

Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single-Jointed Locked from the Trust Equestrian range today:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single-Jointed Locked is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are engaged.

Bit thickness

Cheekpiece

3-Ring

The three-ring bit combines an effective lateral restriction, lever, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. If attached to the lower ring, the engaging rein exerts the action of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.

Mouthpiece

Locked

The locked mouthpiece is similar to a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
