Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 13.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring cheeks. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a width of 13.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Cheekpiece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines effective lateral restriction, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the various ways the reins can be attached. When attached to the lower ring, the rein applies the effect of a short lever to the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks, becoming a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit reverts to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
