Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Broken Locked 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Broken Locked 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are picked up. The bit has a width of 11.5 centimeters. The 11.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.

Bit thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at the thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Information about the manufacturer

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.

Mouthpiece

Locked

The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the rein, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. If less pressure is applied to the rein, the bit changes back into a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.

Side piece

3-Ring

The three-ring bit combines effective lateral restriction, leverage and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different buckling options of the rein. Buckled into the lower ring, the picking-up rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
