The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron Bit, 2.5 Rings, Single Jointed from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Bit, 2.5 Rings, Single Jointed is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Mouthpiece
Single Jointed
A single jointed bit has one hinge point, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very common.
Cheekpiece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines effective lateral restriction, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached to the bottom ring, the taking rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
