Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Snaffle Single-Jointed Locked 16mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is typically between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian Team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today, we would like to introduce the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Snaffle Single-Jointed Locked 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Snaffle Single-Jointed Locked 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring cheeks. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The mouthpiece has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well-suited for very large warmbloods.
Cheek Piece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines effective lateral restriction, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the various rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the engaging rein exerts the action of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single-jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single-jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
