Product description
Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Snaffle Bit Single Jointed Locked 16mm 13.5
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Snaffle Bit Single Jointed Locked 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Snaffle Bit Single Jointed Locked 16mm 13.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring cheeks. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a size of 13.5 centimetres.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Cheek Piece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines effective lateral limitation, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the engaging rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
