Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Double Jointed Snaffle with a high port from the Trust Equestrian range:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Double Jointed Snaffle with a high port is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Sidepiece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines an effective lateral boundary, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached in the lower ring, the picking rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
