Product description
Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Olive Head Snaffle Single Jointed Locked Bit
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a medium-strength mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Olive Head Snaffle Single Jointed Locked Bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Olive Head Snaffle Single Jointed Locked Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 2.5 ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when the reins are taken up.
Bit Thickness
Cheek Piece
2.5-Ring
Combines effective lateral guidance, leverage, and lifting action in one bit, while usually being somewhat softer than a 3-ring bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the rein applies the effect of a short lever on the bit.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked mouthpiece is similar to a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that lean on the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
