The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 2.5 Ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a width of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for sporty thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer Information

Mouthpiece
Locked
The Locked mouthpiece is similar to a single jointed mouthpiece, but it cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back into a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The Locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Cheek Piece
2.5-Ring
Combines effective lateral guidance, leverage, and lifting action in one bit, while usually being somewhat softer than a 3-ring bit. The degree of action is chosen by the various rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the taking rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit.
