The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Dr. Bristol Copper Plate is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 2.5 ring cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Dr. Bristol, which is a plate as the center piece of a double-jointed mouthpiece.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draught horses, and Shire horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

The Dr. Bristol mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat center piece. The center plate in a Dr. Bristol is angled and flat-edged. It acts primarily on the tongue with a sharp action due to the straight, angled plate and with a smaller angle on the bars. This mouthpiece helps with strong horses.

2.5-Ring

A 2.5-ring bit allows for flexible rein attachment, achieving different levels of leverage. The lower the reins are attached, the greater the effect on the bit and the horse's poll. With the 2.5-ring bit, the lower ring is set into the main ring.
