Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Snaffle Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Snaffle Double Jointed with Copper Rings 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 2.5 ring cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. The mouthpiece size 14.5cm is usually ideal for very large warmbloods.

Bit thickness

The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.

Mouthpiece

double jointed

A double jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue than single jointed bits.

Cheekpiece

2.5-Ring

Combines effective lateral guidance, leverage and lifting action in one bit, while usually being somewhat softer than a 3-ring bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the taking rein exerts the action of a short lever on the bit.
