Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Snaffle, Double Jointed with High Port from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Snaffle, Double Jointed with High Port is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 2.5 ring cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at its thickest point in the horse's commissure. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when they come into contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
2.5-Ring
A 2.5-ring bit allows for flexible rein attachment, achieving different leverage effects. The lower the reins are attached, the greater the effect on the bit and the horse's poll. With the 2.5-ring bit, the lower ring is set into the main ring.
