Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Double Jointed 16mm 11.5 bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Double Jointed 16mm 11.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 11.5 centimeters. The 11.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest part in the horse's lip area. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Sweet Iron

Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.

Manufacturer Information

Trust Equestrian

The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.

Mouthpiece

Double jointed

A double-jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth and sits a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. The bit should not be used on horses with narrow lower jaws. The joints can press on the bars if the lower jaw is narrow. Compared to a single-jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue.

Cheek Piece

3-Ring

The three-ring bit combines effective lateral restriction, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the various ways of attaching the reins. When buckled into the lower ring, the taking rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
