The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Bar Swivel straight from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Leather Bar Swivel straight is made of leather and equipped with so-called universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is exceptionally high. Practically every horse "likes" it! Leather is a pure natural product; it stimulates chewing and salivation. The bit glides easily in the mouth and thus increases well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually readily accept a leather bit and can relearn to confidently approach the bit.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should soak in cooking oil for a few hours before the first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Information about the manufacturer
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Universal/Swivel
The universal bit, also called Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as a cheekpiece, with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheek pieces and reins, which makes the bit very flexible. With the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached to a central axis of the ring.
