Product description
Trust Bit Leather Straight Swivel 20mm 11.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold-bloods and Shires horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust bit leather straight swivel 20mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Bit Leather Straight Swivel 20mm 11.5 is made of leather and equipped with so-called universal rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a size of 11.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is usually well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Cheekpiece
Universal/Swivel
The universal bit, also called Beval or Swivel, usually has rings as cheekpieces, with internal eyelets at the top and bottom. These allow for additional attachment of cheekpieces and reins, which makes the bit very flexible. With the Beval, the mouthpiece is attached in a central axis of the ring.
Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit Material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is exceptionally high. Almost every horse likes the softness and taste of leather. Since leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit slides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually readily accept a leather bit and can relearn to approach the bit with confidence.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should soak in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
