Product description
Trust Bit Leather Straight Weymouth Bradoon Olive Head
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Reference values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
Weymouth bradoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Straight Weymouth Bradoon Olive Head from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Leather Straight Weymouth Bradoon Olive Head is made of leather and features smaller cheekpieces as a weymouth bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.

Weymouth Bradoon
The weymouth bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available as single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The weymouth bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit Material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is extraordinarily high. Almost every horse likes the softness and taste of leather. Leather is a pure natural product; it stimulates chewing activity and salivation. The bit glides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually readily accept a leather bit and can relearn a trusting approach to the bit.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should soak in cooking oil for a few hours before the first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
