Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and manufactured from the most suitable materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Bar Olive Head Weymouth Bradoon Straight 20mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The bit Trust Bit Leather Bar Olive Head Weymouth Bradoon Straight 20mm 13.5 is made of leather and features smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The mouthpiece has a width of 13.5 centimeters. The 13.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for smaller and normal warmbloods.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's commissure. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Weymouth bradoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is exceptionally high. Practically every horse "likes" it! Since leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit glides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are generally vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are absolutely bit-shy usually readily accept a leather bit and can relearn to approach the bit with confidence.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Sidepiece
Weymouth Bradoon
The Weymouth bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference from other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The Weymouth bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a bar and the bradoon is jointed.
