The Trust Equestrian bit range provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Leather Bar Bit Liverpool 2-Slots Straight 20mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:

The Trust Leather Bar Bit Liverpool 2-Slots Straight 20mm 12.5 is made of leather and equipped with driving curb bit cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters. The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for thoroughbreds.

Bit Thickness

The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.

Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.

When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

Bit Material

Leather

Leather as a bit material is very readily accepted by many horses. Virtually every horse "likes" it! Since leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit slides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.

Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely bit-shy usually readily accept a leather bit and can relearn to confidently approach the bit.

Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.

Manufacturer Information

Mouthpiece

Bar Bits

A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.

Cheek Piece

Driving Curb Bits

Driving curb bits such as the Trust Leather Bar Bit Liverpool 2-Slots Straight 20mm 12.5 are specially suited to the needs of carriage horses. There are several types of driving curb bits.

Liverpool Curb Bit The Liverpool curb bit is a classic driving bit and offers several options for rein attachment. The Liverpool curb bit is usually available with short or long shanks. It is also possible to tilt the angle of the tongue port forward. This forward inclination relieves the bars and acts more on the tongue.

Post Curb Bit The post curb bit is also a classic driving curb bit and is commonly used for country harness. It offers two options for rein attachment. The reins are attached to the lower ring to achieve a leverage effect. When attached to the upper ring, this leverage effect is absent, and the bit becomes a snaffle bit.
