The range of bits from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Straight Bar Kimblehook 20mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Bit Leather Straight Bar Kimblehook 20mm 12.5 is made of leather and equipped with Kimblewick shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a width of 12.5 centimeters. The mouthpiece size of 12.5cm is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
In comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is extraordinarily high. Practically every horse "likes" it! Since leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit slides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually readily accept a leather bit and can re-learn a trusting approach to the bit.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Shank
Kimblewick
The Kimblewick combines leverage on the lower jaw, pressure distribution on the poll, and a change in the bit's position in the horse's mouth. The Kimblewick allows for three different attachment options, which enable a well-dosed use of the bit. The stable shanks ensure a quiet position in the mouth.
