The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Bar D-Ring Straight 20mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in a bit more detail:
The Trust Bit Leather Bar D-Ring Straight 20mm 12.5 is made of leather and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The bit has a size of 12.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well-suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20mm at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Leather
Leather as a bit material is very readily accepted by many horses. Almost every horse likes the softness and taste of leather. Leather is a purely natural product; it stimulates chewing activity and saliva production. The bit glides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually accept a leather bit readily and can relearn a trusting approach to the bit.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
D-Ring
Due to the properties of this bit, it is wonderfully suitable for young horses that are still a bit inexperienced. The shape and weight of the cheekpieces ensure a calm and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral support is provided. Good and calm rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
