Product description
Trust Bit Leather Straight Baby Pelham
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, consider the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Straight Baby Pelham from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The bit Trust Bit Leather Straight Baby Pelham is made of leather and equipped with Baby Pelham cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar.
Bit Thickness
Cheekpiece
Baby Pelham
The Baby Pelham is a variation of the Pelham, ideal for accustoming horses to poll pressure as it has shorter shanks. These significantly reduce the leverage of the Trust Bit Leather Straight Baby Pelham and make it more comfortable for the horse.
Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Bit Material
Leather
Leather as a bit material is very well accepted by many horses. Practically every horse "likes the taste" of it! Leather is a pure natural product; it stimulates chewing and saliva production. The bit glides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing comfort. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually accept a leather bit happily and can relearn to approach the bit with confidence.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should soak in cooking oil for a few hours before the first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
