The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Leather Bar 2.5-Ring Snaffle Straight 20mm 11.5 bit from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Leather Bar 2.5-Ring Snaffle Straight 20mm 11.5 bit is made of leather and equipped with 2.5 ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its widest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Leather
Leather as a bit material is very readily accepted by many horses. Almost every horse likes the softness and taste of leather. Since leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit slides easily in the mouth, increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually readily accept a leather bit and can learn to approach the bit confidently again.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should soak in cooking oil for several hours before the first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single or double jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek Piece
2.5-Ring
A 2.5-ring bit allows for flexible rein attachment, which achieves varying leverage. The lower the reins are attached, the greater the effect on the bit and the horse's poll. With the 2.5-ring bit, the lower ring is integrated into the main ring.
