The Trust Equestrian team continuously works on innovative bits to further optimize the design and effectiveness of their bits. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Leather Bar 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Straight 20mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range:
The Trust Bit Leather Bar 2.5-Ring Eggbutt Straight 20mm 11.5 is made of leather and equipped with 2.5 ring cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The mouthpiece has a size of 11.5 centimeters. The 11.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is extraordinarily high. Practically every horse "likes" it! As leather is a natural product, it stimulates salivation and chewing activity. The bit slides easily in the mouth, thereby increasing well-being. Leather mouthpieces are generally vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually readily accept a leather bit and can learn to approach the bit confidently again.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek piece
2.5-Ring
A 2.5-ring bit allows for flexible rein attachment, which achieves different degrees of leverage. The lower the reins are attached, the greater the effect on the bit and the horse's poll. With the 2.5-ring bit, the lower ring is embedded in the main ring.
