The bit assortment from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Inno Sense Bradoon Bit Flexi Soft 20mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Inno Sense Bradoon Bit Flexi Soft 20mm 13.5 is made of plastic and features smaller cheekpieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a straight bar. The hardness of the mouthpiece material is rather soft, meaning flexible. The bit has a size of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well-suited for a normal warmblood.
Bit Thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Plastic
Food-grade plastic is used for bits, meaning no plasticizer is used, and it is well-tolerated by horses. The particularly smooth texture ensures that the bit can slide easily in the mouth, even with little saliva production.

Mouthpiece
Straight Bar Bits
A straight bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A straight bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit has a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed.
