Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Inno Sense Pelham Mullen Mouthpiece medium from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Bit Inno Sense Pelham Mullen Mouthpiece medium is made of plastic and equipped with Pelham cheek pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a mullen bar. The hardness of the mouthpiece material is rather medium, meaning it is slightly flexible.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 18 millimeters at its widest point. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Plastic
Food-grade plastic is used for bits, which means no plasticizers are used, and it is well tolerated by horses. The particularly smooth texture ensures that the bit can slide easily in the mouth, even with little saliva production.

Mouthpiece
Mullen Mouth Bits
A mullen mouthpiece is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A mullen mouthpiece has a sharper action than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheek Piece
Pelham
The Pelham is a popular bit with short or long shanks. When the reins are taken up, the bit acts on the mouth, lower jaw, and poll. Depending on the leverage of the shanks, a varying degree of strong and immediate bit angle in the mouth can be achieved. Possible use for horses that have difficulty going on the bit, for "hot" horses, or for horses that require clear influence in critical situations. The Pelham should only be used by experienced riders.
