Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Inno Sense Olive Head Bradoon Tongue Port bit medium 20mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Inno Sense Olive Head Bradoon Tongue Port bit medium 20mm 12.5 is made of plastic and features smaller cheekpieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The hardness of the mouthpiece material is rather medium, meaning it is slightly flexible. The mouthpiece has a width of 12.5 centimeters. The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for Thoroughbreds.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Plastic
Food-grade plastic is used for bits, meaning no plasticizers are used and it is well tolerated by horses. The particularly smooth texture ensures that the bit can glide easily in the mouth, even with little saliva production.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single-jointed and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., olive head rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a bar and the bradoon is jointed.
