The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Hackamore Combi Short bit with a straight leather bar 20mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in a little more detail:
The Trust Hackamore Combi Short bit with straight leather bar 20mm 14.5 is made of leather and equipped with hackamore shanks. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The bit has a width of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to check how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Leather
The acceptance of leather bits is extraordinarily high. Practically every horse "likes" it! Leather is a pure natural product; it stimulates chewing activity and saliva production. The bit glides easily in the mouth and thus increases well-being. Leather mouthpieces are usually vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
Our leather mouthpiece is particularly suitable for young and extremely sensitive horses. Even horses that are completely resistant to bits usually accept a leather bit happily and can relearn a trusting approach to the bit.
Care instructions for leather: The mouthpiece should be soaked in cooking oil for a few hours before first use. Repeat this process as soon as the leather appears dry. Before each use, you should briefly soak it in clear water and clean it thoroughly after use, as saliva can erode the leather.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
Bar bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Sidepiece
Hackamore
The hackamore has no mouthpiece in the horse's mouth, but it acts more on the nose, jaw, and poll due to its leverage.
